Performance Improvement

Many factors, such as technology, customer behavior, and available capital, influence organizational performance.  However, the most critical organizational performance factor is people.  People implement technology, shape and deliver customer service, allocate financial resources, and make a host of other decisions that directly impact organizational performance.  At PRC, our area of expertise is achieving Performance Improvement through people – specifically by providing services that help organizations hire, place, retain, and develop the right people.

Our Performance Improvement Process

Several core beliefs are central to our approach to Performance Improvement.

  • People are the fundamental building blocks of the organizational system: While many of our services target individual-level Performance Improvement, improved organizational performance is our ultimate objective. 
  • Our approach and our work are client-focused: A client’s organizational culture and their situation are critical criteria in all that we do.  As a result, we craft solutions to our client’s unique situation and challenge.  We are not a solution in search of a problem. 
  • Performance Improvement is about reducing the gap between what is and what is desired: We assist our clients in defining and measuring current and desired performance.  Our services help define and close the gap between the two.
  • ROI is important: We initiate new engagements with ROI top of mind.  We strive to position our work to be able to demonstrate to our clients the ROI of their efforts and ours.  We create wins for our clients.
  • Programmatic engagements with clients are optimal: We are collaborators and business partners.  We work with clients to expand their knowledge of the people, contributions, and opportunities in their business situations to create bigger wins for them.  We collaborate with our clients to develop programmatic solutions that are integrated into the organizational system and produce incremental and sustained performance improvement.

Our Performance Improvement Services

We provide several services that address the issue of Performance Improvement.  We recommend the services that best fit the need of the client.  Some clients utilize all of our services while others engage only one or two. 

  • Assessment: We conduct individual psychological assessments that identify key differences between people and reveal potential opportunities related to performance.  These assessments have implications for people, teams, and organizations.  Our assessments assist our clients with their selection, development, and talent management activities.
  • Feedback services: We provide feedback to employees based upon their individual assessment results.  Feedback increases self-insight and self-awareness, assists people in the identification of blind spots, and enhances their developmental efforts.
  • Development plans: Our development plans serve as road maps for coaching and mentoring relationships.  Our written development plans aid both employees and their coaches in creating development goals that are action-oriented and facilitate meaningful behavior change.
  • Validation initiatives: We evaluate the perspectives and initiatives of our clients relating to leadership and human performance.  Using proven metrics and professional expertise, we either confirm or identify gaps in the perspectives of our clients.  When gaps exist, we make recommendations for change and revision.  For example, we evaluate clients’ leadership competency models, thereby helping them define leadership behaviors in organization- and role-specific terms that improve the measurement and development of performance. 
  • Data analytic initiatives: We conduct analyses of aggregate data, such as employee survey data or pooled individual assessment results, which provide insight into individual, team, and organizational performance issues.
  • Sharing best practices: We work with key stakeholders to support their objectives.  We provide our data, knowledge, experience, and consulting in support of their initiatives.  We collaborate and serve as a resource and business partner to our clients.
